A goal of the Bovine Genome Database project is to support the efforts of the Bovine Genome Sequencing and Analysis Consortium by creating a model organism database that integrates bovine genomics data with structural and functional annotations of genes and the genome.  The Bovine Genome Database Consortium includes members from Georgetown University, University of Adelaide, University of Minnesota, and CSIRO Livestock Industries.

Assembly Btau_4.0, with 7.1X coverage, was released by the Baylor College of Medicine Human Genome Sequencing Center in October 2007. The Bovine Assembly 4.0 Scaffold and Chromosome browsers display the official gene set (OGSv2) and all gene prediction sets.
